- ABOUT | Top100Artists
Or Top100Artidts list of this year's hottest collectable artists includes emerging, mid-career or established artists. Their ascendency in the art world is not by chance or any reliance on a subjective assessment of their artwork. Albert Tucker's Grotesque Until 9 March 2025 Heidi Museum of Modern Art, Melbourne About What defines great art, and who is excelling in it? This question often occupies our minds. We are a group of artists, academics, former gallery owners and art collectors who are about recognising and promoting talented contemporary artists and their work. Each month, or perhaps more frequently, we gather at our favourite pub. Our Top 100 Artists list, born from our lively discussions, is meant to highlight the artists rather than ourselves, and is why we choose to remain anonymous. While some may question this choice, we firmly believe it ensures the spotlight remains squarely on the artists. Though we may have differing opinions on who belongs in a top 100 artists list, we all agree navigating the art world can be daunting without some guidance. Thus, we set aside our differences to create an annual list for you, now in its third year. Here are the hard-working artists we believe deserve attention. Many have strong reputations forged over a long period of time, while others are emerging talents with bright futures ahead. Such a diverse mix is seldom found in one group, and we ask, 'Why not?' when they're all active in the same art scene. While our list is neither the first nor the only one of its kind, we believe it showcases an exciting and varied mix of painters, photographers, and sculptors - free from the biases sometimes found in art publications. Happy viewing, art lovers. _________________ Please seek independent financial or professional advice considers your personal circumstances when making an art purchase.
